This website is visited by 2000 people per week and a growing number of people are contacting us to tell us about their favourite restaurant, local event, society, or club.
Please help us to build this information resource - why keep your local knowledge to yourself?
Yes - we will continue to welcome all new players in Spring 2014.
Yes - on a Wednesday evening you can usually just walk through to the courts (straight on through the double doors in reception) and say hello. However on other nights, there are 8 or more courts at some of the leisure centres we use, so it's better if we know to look out for new players and meet them in the reception area.
No - everyone is welcome, but please contact us if you've never played badminton before so that we can try to ensure there will be other newcomers on the night you've chosen to attend. The best night to try if you are unsure of your playing ability would be Wednesday, where the standard is generally much more varied.
See above schedule - or contact us and join our 'mailing list' (we send about 6-7 updates by email per month to our badminton players).
See below - between £3 and £5 per player per session. Most sessions are just 'turn up and play' but please read about our membership fee below.
Yes. However, you don't have to pay this straight away (see below).
Yes - although if you can't get hold of one let us know in advance because many of our members have spares they can probably bring along for you to borrow.
We provide the shuttles, the venues we hire provide the nets.
At the Pearson Centre on Wednesdays, you can walk through the double doors and come through into the hall - we're always welcoming new faces and will just say hello! Look out for Mark or Sarah in their distinctive blue club organiser T-shirts. For badminton sessions at local leisure centres, please meet us in reception a few minutes earlier than the stated start time (and email us beforehand to let us know you're coming so that we make sure there is someone waiting there for you).
Yes - whenever there is time / space available, some of our players will play each other at singles. However, most of the games we play are doubles or mixed doubles, so if you are looking for a particularly challenging, 'super competitive' or league style game of badminton, we can recommend other local clubs for you to try as well.
We invite you to join in with friendly 'round robin' style badminton games - usually on Monday or Wednesday evenings each week (exact court booking times may vary, other nights can be arranged if there is demand). We usually play badminton on 1, 2 or 3 courts, for up to 2 hours.
Whilst games are competitive (we manage to keep track of the score, almost always anyway!) the idea is to have a good laugh for an hour or two, and get fit at the same time.
2014: Latest News!! During a typical week we are now playing badminton every Monday evening and Wednesday evening. Occasionally, we also book courts on a Thursday evening or a weekend afternoon - with almost 30 regular players, roughly a third ladies and two thirds gents (age group: 18-50 years old). A typical session has between 10 and 18 players at the moment.
Wednesday Club News Update: Badminton Courts Booked at the Pearson Centre in Beeston every Wednesday evening.
This 'block booking' is from 8.00pm - 9.30pm and most players have a quick drink afterwards just around the corner at the Wetherspoons Pub (called 'The Last Post', in Beeston
Here is a - map link - for the Pearson Centre, which is on Nuart Road (the entrance to Nuart Road is opposite the entrance to Sainsbury's supermarket in the centre of Beeston).
Our badminton sessions are first and foremost sociable - on my first night I met and spoke to three or four different players all from different age groups and backgrounds whilst awaiting my next game on court. If you are a bit more of a serious player or are looking for a competitive badminton club / league to join, please contact us anyway because we may be able to provide you with some useful contact details.
Just turn up on a Wednesday at the Pearson Centre - or for further details please contact us - - everyone is welcome, regardless of ability, sex or age group. Evening sessions are very popular at this time of year, so contact us now and join in before we have to introduce a waiting list!
We also book courts at local leisure centres on other evenings, depending on the demand. Please let us know if you would like to do this at least 7 days in advance, because the council owned leisure facilities we use are in high demand and it is difficult to find a court that is available. There are always lifts and car shares available if you need transport.
Contact us now to say when you're available, we look forward to hearing from you. We usually play for 1 or 2 hours, sometime between 6.30pm and 10.30pm. The more interest we have the better, so that we can organise plenty of 'on-court time' for everyone.
Please contact us - - for more details about our latest badminton court booking times and dates (and remember to tell us which evenings of the week you are likely to be available).
