Editor's note about playing golf at Beeston Fields Golf Club:
I enjoyed a round of golf at Beeston Fields in summer 2008. The course was in imaculate condition and as a beginner/intermediate standard player, I found the different cuts/lengths of the grass in
various places just off the fairways and greens particularly challenging. However, when I was accurate I found the greens very receptive to a good approach shot and I was able to score well on the
holes that I kept my shots straight! I was lucky enough to play on an 'Open Day' and found the members to be friendly and welcoming.

Editor's note about playing golf at Chilwell Manor Golf Club:
One of my friends is a member at Chilwell Manor so I have enjoyed a few rounds of golf with him at a discounted rate of about £15 pounds. As expected of a long established and well regarded
golf course, I found that the bunkers and trees (the main hazards), together with ditches and boundary posts, were well placed and designed to catch the less experienced player out! However, I was
able to score one of my best ever scores at Chilwell Manor after I learned to avoid some of the pitfalls, and I will be back to see if I can break the magic 100 mark!
Wollaton Park Golf Club is regarded by many as one of the gems of Golfing in The Midlands. Set in over 300 acres of magnificent parkland the course, which is overlooked by the imposing 16th century Wollaton Hall, is traditionally parkland in character.

Ok, so it isn't quite 'near' Beeston but less than an hour's drive takes you to this 18 hole pay and play and members golf course, with some of the most challenging greens I've found in the
Nottinghamshire area.
