Player Profiles

As a bit of fun we have put together some player profiles of all squad members, in no particular order. These will include some not so helpful information about you, your mug-shot and your 'alter-ego'. More of these will be appearing on the website during the next few weeks - so if you haven't been ridiculed yet, you soon will be!

Andy M: Goalkeeper/Striker (Beeston.Biz Legend/Founder of Beeston.Biz)
Andy is one of the original founding members of Beeston.Biz FC - initially a 5-a-side team which has since evolved into an 11-a-side team entered into the Notts Sunday League. Andy's efforts and determination to make the club a success was a fundamental part of our middle of the table finish in our maiden season. On the pitch Andy is an excellent shot stopper between the posts but feels more at home up-front as a target striker, however after a few beers on a Saturday night he would be the first to admit he feels more at home...at home in bed. Usually found on the touchline sporting a flask full of coffee (we think its coffee :P...). Enjoyed a good season last year with games played at either end of the pitch, made some excellent stops between the sticks which ensured 3 points in some vital games but also scored some late winners to give the same outcome. Most notably was his goal against Loft In Space which won him Goal of the Season and helped him earn the Best Striker Award.

Craig S: (Currently on Loan somewhere down south - come back soon!) Central Midfield
The only thing longer than Craig's list of tricks is not suitable to mention on a website of this nature. If he's running the wing or getting stuck in down the middle of the park Craig has a key eye for goal which was proved with a substitute appearance last season that resulted in a hat-trick in less than 18 minutes, two of which were goal of the season candidates.

Oli H in action against Loft in Space FC

Paul H: Central Defence/Midfield (Club Captain/Fixtures Secretary)
A broken leg wouldn't stop our captain having one of his trademark 30 yard digs and running the back line or central midfield. Paul led Beeston.Biz to 7th place in the league last season and is determined to do better this year. Well known for sporting traffic stopping fashion accessories, such as alice-bands, we think the traffic should just keep heading his way. A very mixted campaign for Paul which saw his leadership on the pitch over-shadowed by some lengthy spells on the sidelines. Led by example as skipper and chipped in with some excellent goals and has carried that trend on into pre-season. Now who has the cotton-wool.

Oli H: Winger/Striker (Chairman/Match Day Secretary)
Small (sorry - very small) winger with fast feet but an even faster mouth! Always keen to have the ball at his feet and loves nothing more than running at full backs and having 'Nut-meg' competitions with club captain Paul H. Oli thinks of himself as a bit of a set-piece specialist, but really at 4ft tall would he ever win a header - after breaking his second metatarsal he thought the pain couldn't get any worse, but then he got married! Not only did he gain his trophy wife but he also won the Golden Boot for finishing top-goalscorer but he wants 20 next season.

Oli H in a Battle With Loft In Space Defender

Steve (Bozzie) B: Full Back (Social Secretary)
Bozzie is Beeston through and through (we think that's a good thing!) and is a key player at either left or right back, getting forward as often as he can and his dodgy goal claim last season is still up for debate. Great character in the dressing room and is now our social events organiser. Bozzie has a thing for bikes especially a Ducati 8500 or something and when we say he has a thing for bikes that thing is illegal in every country apart from Singapore.

Nottingham Football Teams - One Of Beeston's Best Players Scores A Goal In Training

Shaun B: Central Midfield (Club Treasurer)
Rub shoulders with him and I gurantee you will get pregnant. With his fiery ginger hair and loud personality Shaun is always seen and... well, always heard. Powerful in the middle of the park but was on the sidelines for the majority of last season with various injuries and operations. Everyone is very happy to have Shaun back in the squad, not least because he is such an obvious target on set-pieces (just aim for the flames)! Last year he was kicked, punched and head-butted (needing stitches in hospital) but he still kept on controlling midfields and won the Player of the Season, Most Man of the Matches and Best Midfielder awards - greedy ginger ninja!

Nottingham Football Teams - One Of Beeston's Best Newcomers This Year, Nick P

Nick P: Central Midfield/Winger
'Once you pop, you just can't stop!' Sorry couldn't resist it mate - because apart from your surname being synonymous with a well known brand of crisps, once you've been in the team it has been impossible to leave you out! Committed and determined for every minute of the match, Nick can play across the whole midfield and has already got his Beeston.Biz goal account off to a flying start. Big things are expected of the young lad and we are all sure he will deliver. Desrved to win the Young Player of the Season award last year and is also pretty good on the drums!

Mark P: Central Defence
One of our most experienced Sunday League players (that in no way means you're old mate) and it shows with a great football brain and good understanding of striker's movement. This has led Mark to be an integral part of the Beeston back-line. Mark is yet to be tested on the social side of things, will his experience there show the younger lads a thing or two? You decide! Mark P was immense last season picking up the Best Defender and Most Man of the Match awards, we just need to keep him fit for this term but he has never let us down yet and I am sure he never will.

Beeston.biz FC Nottingham Football Pictures - James, the BFG!

Jonno D: Full Back/Central Midfield
Jonno-dinio - excellent with the ball at his feet and never one to shy away from trying to beat opposition players with tricks and skills. As you'd expect from a founding member of the team, he's committed to the cause for 90 minutes taking any role in the team his is given and giving 100%. Jonno shares a problem most of our players have, he is allowed out on social nights but only when the Mrs has taken her thumb of his head (we all know that feeling). Jonno is now our training organiser for the season.

Mark M: Central Defence/Midfield
Since his arrival at Beeston.Biz Mark has continued to impress with his willingness to work hard and put 110% into every activity. Plays a strong game in the centre of midfield or defence and has become an instant legend on our social events with some back-busting moves on the dance-floor, wonder if his girlfriend knows how much of a good dancer he is.

Nottingham Football Teams - One Of Beeston's Best Players, Russ

Tom M: Full Back/Central Midfield
Newcomer Tom made an immediate impact on his first training session by getting stuck in from the start. He's a versatile player who loves playing football but not as much as he loves a Jagerbomb! We were all introduced to Tom's favourite drinks in Skeggy, but it's funny how most of us can't remember much about it. Tom is quick witted and has been known to leave his hand-print on some un-expecting squad members - ouch!

James (Kaka) B: Full Back
Just to be clear from the start he looks like Kaka just in case any other team is thinking of snapping him up. However that said on his first appearance at training we know we had found our £60 million right back who has fitted right into the squad. I think James should be glad he has been named after the Baby-Faced Brazilian and not Luke Chadwick.

Nottingham Football Teams - One Of Beeston's Most In Demand Players, Bill

Bill Y: Central Midfield/Striker
Some say his northern twang originates from the Charles Dickens era and that he once donated some talent to a stroppy former Man Utd winger... all we know is... he's called Bill! Adaptability and composure are just two of Bill's skills which allow him to play all over the park and fit right in. No-nonsense on and off the pitch makes him indispensible (when he's not at a wedding)! Scored a screaming 30 yard drive on the last day of the season - but were his eyes shut at the time?!

Ollie T: Central Midfield
Ollie is the poster-boy of the squad with his hair never out of place, we often wonder if he should be at boy-band practice instead of football. That said, we are glad Ollie comes to training every week because he is a talented young footballer who is maturing as the weeks pass. Ollie loves playing down the centre of the park and his ability to pick a pass shows that he will be a great asset to the squad. Last terms Clubman which was awarded for outstanding contribution to the team, keep up the good work!

Yahya M: Central Midfield
Do you ever remember your old football coach saying 'let the football do the talking?' well Yahya does exactly that which is why he is our silent assassin. Yahya is a great midfielder who earned a man-of-the-match award on his league debut and didn't seem to break a sweat. Like a foreign imported lager suggests, he's probably the best Nottingham Sunday League defensive midfielder, who plays for a Beeston team and name begins with Y, in the world! But we just like to call him our 'star in a reasonably priced car!'

Jack M (Captain Jack to you!): Full Back / Centre Back
Like the golfer Ian Poulter Jack has a thing for wearing rather 'different' attire at training but I suppose you need one in every team :) Jack is our own Delap, he has a great throw-in and is a powerful player who can play anywhere across the back four. He's become a players favourite, always has a smile on his face - but like the Hulk you wouldn't want to see him when he's mad!

Richard (Dougie) D: Midfield
What do you call a man with a spade on his head...Doug. What do you call a man without a spade on his head...Dougless. What do you call a Beeston.Biz central midfielder with a great touch, big prescence and Paul Scholes like vision...Dougie! Fire-fighter Dougie can put any opposition player who is on firey form out and dampen their moods. This season should be a great one for Dougie and let's hope this season he is too hot to handle.

2010/11 Stats:Apps:12(1), Goals:4, Assists:4, MOTM:1

Greg L: Midfield
Greg 'the baker' is reliable as they come, funny that as when I am on my way home after a skin-full and tired from rocking out at love-shack all night I can rely on Gregg's to provide me with a Sausage and Bean pasty for my taxi ride home. Greg impressed from the start and is our own unique meal-deal at full-back. Just see if you can get us a sponsorship deal for next season, I can see it now sausage rolls for half-time and chocolate cakes for after.

2010/11 Stats:Apps:11(3), Goals:0, Assists:1, MOTM:1

Matt R: Midfield
What can I say, Lock up your daughters? I still don't think that would keep them safe enough. On Matt's first outing with the team on a social event he was seen grabbing random women saying 'Youre fit, come here!'. I mean the no nonsense approach works when he's bombing down the wing on a Sunday morning but tact is something definitely missing in his locker, we do love you though!

2010/11 Stats:Apps:13(3), Goals:6, Assists:4, MOTM:1

Martin D: Defence
His name might sound like a generic law firm and society may have got caught up in the 'when there's blame there's a claim' culture but with Martin on the last line of defence the only claim he has it that he is as solid as they come. Quick to react and hungry to chase down forwards Martin is the new breed of centre back who can tower above target men but push quick strikers to their acceleration limits. Great guy on and off the pitch and already a big hit in the squad but probably not going to be popular with opposition forwards, never mind.

2010/11 Stats:Apps:12(1), Goals:2, Assists:2, MOTM:0

Wes: Defence
The only famous Wes I can think of is Wesley Snipes and he was in the hit movie Demolition Man which is very ironic really as this army lad is an old school centre half who eats forwards for breakfast and then picks the pieces out of his teeth with their collar bone. Wes is as powerful as they come at the back and would probably make a great rugby player, but why would he want to go and play a girls sport anyway (don't think rugby players log onto this page?!).
