According to the Nottingham Branch of CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale), the pub of the year for 2010 was The Crown Inn, on the corner of Middle Street and Church Street (opposite the Police Station and the War Memorial in Beeston). Congratulations to The Crown, which has certainly benefitted no end from the renovations - the outdoor areas with heaters and low volume sound (speakers wired into the covered areas) make for a good place to enjoy a pint in the evening. The range of ales (and the price - with a £2 pint available on my last visit) is enviable and the pub retains its character, with several small rooms to poke your head into whilst looking for a table to sit at.

'When a friend who moved away last year asked me to recommend a venue for a small reunion on his return 'for one night only!' to Beeston, I suggested we start the evening in the obvious place - At The Bar! - one of the town's most popular pubs. Although it was a Friday night, we were able to sit down around a couple of tables, we could catch up without having to shout over the background music, and we never had to wait too long to get a round in. Everyone agreed that The Bar was a good place to start the night, and as the young ones headed off to Nottingham clubbing whilst the married ones returned home at about 10pm, the friendly landlord Dave bade us farewell - we'll be back!'

A recent survey on the Evening Post Newspaper's website invited readers to nominate Nottingham Cafes and Restaurants for recognition in a 'Where's Best For Breakfast?' competition. After 26 different venues serving daily breakfast were nominated, around 700 votes were cast and the popular Beeston Branch of Belle and Jerome came out on top!
So now, residents of Beeston, you can enjoy the very best breakfast right here on your doorstep, between 8am and 11.30am (Monday to Saturday) or between 9am and 12 noon on Sundays!
