Nottingham Tuesday Night Football Training - Evening Football Matches and Fitness Drills

Training Nights - Tuesday Evenings and Thursday Evenings

We now offer training on both Tuesday and Thursday nights with the emphasis on improving fitness, enjoying playing football and welcoming newcomers.

New players are especially welcome between now and the end of August and we will be playing at least ten pre-season friendly matches during the summer giving every squad member a guaranteed chance to play 11-a-side football regardless of their ability.

Tuesday Night: Football Training near Nottingham University - 6.30pm until Dark

On Tuesday evenings we have our most popular training session on a grass pitch close to Beeston and Nottingham University. The cost is only 2 pounds per player and the venue changes regularly - but it is always near Beeston and Nottingham city centre and on a bus route.

For more details please contact - - or request to join our Facebook Group page.

Last summer we trained at various recreation grounds in Beeston, Chilwell, Toton, Bramcote and perhaps most memorably at Wollaton Park - where the session begins with the ever-popular jog up the hill, around Wollaton Hall and back down the hill to the football pitch next to the main car park!

During a typical training session, the first half an hour will include a light jog around the playing fields, then some stretches and team building exercises, ensuring that players are properly warmed up and ready to play football. Then we always play some three touch football and a 'proper match' to finish the session. Shinpads and a good pair of astro trainers will be required.

Each Player Must Bring £2 Subs And Their Own Kit To Training, Including Shin Pads

Although we nearly always have a couple of pairs of spare socks and shinpads with us, we ask that all football players bring their own kit if at all possible (or let us know in advance if you need to borrow some kit). So when you come to training, please bring the following with you:

Nottingham Football Teams - Russ, Oli and Tom
  • Shin Pads, Socks and Shorts or tracksuit trousers
  • Training top and/or suitable football shirt / t-shirt
  • Good pair of trainers suitable for an artificial playing surface*
  • A pair of football boots with moulded studs (recommended for summer) or screw-in studs
  • £2 per player in correct change in coins
  • Water bottle or drink (we normally take water bottles but not always)

*A pair of football trainers with good grip can usually be bought at well known local sports retailers for between 10 and 20 pounds. When we are warming up, trainers are worn by most players as they are easier to jog in than football boots. Obviously the weather will affect what sort of trainers or boots will be best so please use your own judgement and come to training well prepared!

We provide training equipment such as marker cones, whistles, bibs, posts, balls and first aid kit. All players should note that the club does not have extensive insurance cover for accident or injury, so you should have your own individual insurance, particularly if you have a job that you could no longer do after being injured playing football.

New 2 Hour Thursday Night Sessions in Wollaton: 7pm Onwards

We're moving our Thursday evening training sessions to Wollaton Park. Start time will be 7pm and players are welcome to arrive at any time before it gets dark! Sessions will cost only £2 per player and the football will be played on a grass pitch (see our Facebook Group page or a committee member for details).

Lifts for players who don't drive are arranged using our Facebook Group page, or by email. There are several regular bus services from Nottingham to Beeston - View Details Here - and the venue will always be within easy walking distance of Beeston Bus Station, or for Wollaton Park sessions, lifts will be made available.

You'll need to bring a pair of football boots, some trainers (for jogging in!) as well, a drink, your subs (or borrow from another player) and of course your own shinpads, shorts and socks.
